Went to the doc this morning and it turns out I have the flu. Not serious but enough to slow me down to less than a turtle crawl. I slept most of the afternoon and I've been on the couch since about 4:00. I'm far too weak to do any crocheting.
The wind picked up this afternoon, increasing the windchill. Overnight temp tonight is forecast to be -31C/-24F with a windchill of -43C/-45F.
So what do I have to be thankful for today?
Well, I'm glad I got in to see my doc today and that I'm not seriously ill. I'm also thankful that I'm sick now and not next week.
I'm very thankful that I have a warm house tonight.

Thankful Thursday
I'm thankful for the lengthening days.
In December, it's pitch black outside by 4:30pm. Now it's not completely dark until almost 6:00. Grampa has a 45 minute commute, usually getting home just after 5, so it makes me happy that he's doing his travelling in the daylight now. Lessens his chance of a collision with a deer or moose.

Thankful Thursday
It was cold today. The windchill was -35C. That's -31F for you non-metric folks.
I'm thankful for being retired so I didn't have to go out in that brutality.

Thankful Thursday
Yesterday we had a wicked wind that arrived during the night and it blew like mad all day to where a wind warning was put out. Wind gusts were 100kmh or more.
Thankfully we had no damage. There's an 8 foot strip of metal that landed between our house and deck. It's not a very wide space...maybe about 6 feet. It could have so easily come through the dining room window, but it didn't. I'm thankful for that.
Our eldest daughter has one of those fancy dancy fences that doesn't require painting. The wind took out several sections of it. Hopefully it's covered in her insurance. If not, it's going to cost them a bundle to have it repaired. The trampoline in their backyard went dancing in the wind. It travelled about 150 feet and then hopped the fence to end up in the front yard and leaning up against their fifth wheel. Thankfully no damage to the 5th wheel. And, thankfully, nobody was hurt.
